Large search dialog - search filters

The initial list of a specific resource you will be presented to will depend on two things; your resource access and your default search. You need minimum “Observer” access to view any resource and if you cannot find a resource in the list you most likely do not have any access to it. Since some lists may have millions of records it is further important that you can filter the list to only show relevant ones. This is done using the "Search" button. Once you click the "Search" button you will be presented to the large search dialogue.

Understanding resource lists 1

Since every resource is different in terms of the filters that can be used when searching, the example above is not how all large search dialogues will look. The above example is for user. In the left is shown the available filters for the resource type. Any filter you want to use should be clicked and a field to specify the criteria will then be presented on the right side of the dialogue. You may include as many filters as you wish and only those users that fulfill all filters will be shown in the list after a search.Once the results of your search is displayed you will be able to see in your list the values that were used for the search. This is shown by a small icon in the column headers. This makes it easier to remember why a list does not show all when you return to it at a later point of time (since you latest search is always remembered). Icon looks like below.

In the following section you can find a list of all the search filters that are offered in the large search dialog used for all resource lists in Catglobe.

Each filter will be described on the following details:

Resource types: The resource types on whose lists you can find this filter.

Data type: The type of data entry supported for this filter.

Effect: How the settings of the filter will effect the array of resources being returned.

Example: Will show an example of how it looks when the filter is set with values in the large search dialog.
