User hourly cost

The user hourly cost is used for calculating what the cost to the company is of the man hours that employees have put into a resource has cost that resource.

If you do not specify an hourly cost for a user registering time, the system will find this cost in the web config setting called DefaultHourlyCost.

It is although much better to make sure that all your users have specific individual costs. The problem with using the web config is that it does not support historical changes. Once you update the cost in web config all your earlier resources with users applying this cost will also have their costs updated.

The place to update a users hourly cost is in the 'Hourly cost' tab of user resource dialog.

You will here be able to specify hourly cost for periods of time. It is possible to not specify start and end dates of a period (meaning endless period in either direction), but you must not have overlapping time periods, since the system will then not know which cost to apply. Costs are always specified in the default currency of the system.
