General Description
|
- The name of the question to which you wish to import data must be the same as the imported files column header in order to ensure auto-mapping.
- Questions with this type require users to answer with a text, but it is different from a text question in as much as more space will be given for the answer. A typical open question would be ‘Describe your experiences using the Internet?’
- In the same way that some closed questions can be half open, an open text question can also half closed. A half closed “open question” means it may have some closed options that can be chosen if user does not have any reason to fill in the open question. This could for the above question e.g. be “I have never used the Internet” or “I do not wish to answer this question”. This particular example has two closed question options related to the open question. Closed question options work like a multi grid question related to the open question.

Business Rules

- The name of the question to which you wish to import data must be the same as the imported files column header in order to ensure auto-mapping.
- To auto-map to the closed part of an open question you must name your column to import to name of open question “_Closed”. If the above examples open question is named “UseNet” then the closed part of the question would be “UseNet_Closed”.
- The open part of an open question is treated as a text question while the closed part is treated as multi question. So importing values to this question type requires two columns: one for text part and one for multi part. Each column works the same way as text question and multi question respectively.
