General Description

Grid single question is created by gathering two or more single questions that all have the same answer options and putting them into one grid. An example could be two questions “Do you like to smoke?” and “Do you like beer?”, and both of them have answer options Yes and No. We can in reality see each part of a grid question as a single question – or what we also call sub question. As such there is no difference in importing to a single question as importing to a sub-question. All rules that apply for a single question are exactly the same as for a sub-question.a

Import Group

Import Data (by selecting a questionnaire)

Business Rules

  • To auto-map to a sub-question you must name your excel column the same as the grid-question + '_SQ_' + the index of the sub-question afterwards. Indexes start from 1 and upwards. If the above example of a grid was called “YouLike” and we want to import to the question “Do you like beer” (which is the second sub-question) then the column header must be “YouLike_SQ_2”.
  • Sub questions of single grid questions cannot have half open options.

Validation

  • Number must be a whole integer number from 0 and up. If strings or illegal characters are found in a column an error will be given during validation. Error type: ERROR (the import job will not be allowed to be executed).
  • If value is outside the range of possible answer option values on database an error message will be shown. Error type: ERROR and you cannot finish the import job.
