Time registration
In Catglobe we we distinguish between two ways in which users can register hours they have worked, namely:
- Register time, and
- Register assignments.
Registration of assignments is used for part time employees and freelancers where we wish to review and approve the registered hours before we convert them to actual time registrations. In many of the places where a "Register time" button is offered, there will thus also exist a "Register assignment" button. Which of these buttons that users have access to depends on navigation access. It will mostly just make sense that users have access to either one or the other of these buttons.
A general concept of Time Registration in CATGLOBE is that it is possible to register time and assignments against all resource types in the system. The resources that currently allow you to register time and assignments are the following:
- Tasks
- Projects
- Reports
- Questionnaires
- Folders
- Users
- Groups
- Report Templates
- Products
- Monitor
- Coding Jobs
- Translation Jobs
Depending on the strategy of your company, some of these resources may not be enabled for time registration. You may restrict this via navigation access. Please refer to the help files on navigation access for more information.
Some resources in the system may ask if you would like to register time against them. This may happen once you have completed them or during some other action where the system guesses that it may be useful for you to register used time.
Generally, though, you will want to register most of your hours via the My Time Registration interface. Here you will be able to define whether you have been at work, on vacation, sick or whichever status has been enabled in the system. The possible states of your working days can be set in the time registration status pages.
For users that need to register worked hours on assignments there is a dedicated screen for this under My Activities called "My assignment resources" as well as extensions to the screens of Coding, Translation and Data Entry allowing users to register assignment time directly. To read more on register time on assignments please click here.
Users will be required to submit their time registrations in regular intervals. The Time Registration Periods is also configurable in CATGLOBE. This is done via the time registration period page.
For all time registered it is also possible to define the role that the user had on the resource on which he registered time. This could e.g. be to state the he used 4 hours on Project X working as a Project Manager. This definition of role makes it easier to analyse the time spent on projects as compared to budgets made. To make it possible to register time on roles you will need to add role choices to the system (click here to learn more). After these are added you should define the roles that your employees normally assume. You can go to the page "Defining users' default assumed roles" in the links below.
